At noon on Thursday, January 1, 2009 I will be at Loyola Beach participating in the annual polar bear plunge. If you are curious and want to know why I do this— read my post here.
Depending on how many people come to cheer me on will determine if I have people over at my place for "hot" drinks— hot-chocolate, hot-apple cider, hot-toddies, etc.
Hope to see you there.

Woa! You are VERY brave and it sounds like SO.MUCH.FUN!
sounds fun.. but you are insane!
okay, listen, kel is right... you are insane.
my husband found the funniest video on you tube about a polar bear clubber (club member, not bear beater) that thought he was plunging into water, but it was frozen and totally wiped out. bloody nose and all. i guess that doesn't sound too funny, but i am ashamed to admit i really laughed.
YIKES! I am freezing just thinking about it. Good luck and watch out for shrinkage!
I think you're nuts too, but good luck!
Holy cow! And as Uncle Rico would say, "Don't freeze your cocix off!"
Ice on your FEET last year? Out. of. your. mind.
Have fun!
My daughter did something like this last month and loved it! You people are weird.
I'm thinking about doing the same for the Special Olympics. I watched some guys jump into Lake Michigan last year after the Bears lost at the end of the season. My son and I were in Chicago for the weekend and watched the game from the hotel. Watching the unfortunate guys undress, jump in the lake and then get dressed again was pretty funny - they must have lost a bet!
